The first charter flight under Operation Ajay landed at the Delhi airport on October 13, 2023, carrying 212 Indian nationals. This included 211 adults and an infant, all of whom had been caught in the turmoil.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar was present at the airport to receive the returnees, showcasing the Indian government's commitment to its citizens.
The operation was launched in response to the multi-pronged attacks against Israel by Hamas from Gaza, starting from October 7, 2023. The situation escalated quickly, with Israel launching a counter-offensive in Gaza to avenge the attacks by Hamas.
The rapid escalation of hostilities left the skies over Israel risky, prompting the cancellation of many international flights, including those of Air India.
One of the passengers who returned from Israel expressed gratitude to the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their efforts in bringing the Indian nationals back home.
Another passenger, carrying a baby, narrated the tense situation in Israel and shared the relief of being back in India.
The Indian embassy in Tel Aviv played a crucial role in the operation, launching a drive for all Indians to register at the mission's database.
The passengers were chosen on a "first come first serve" basis, and the government bore the cost of their return. The first flight was arranged to facilitate the return of those unable to leave due to the suspension of Air India's flight operations since the fighting began.
Apart from the flight that landed in Delhi, the embassy announced a second flight scheduled for October 14, 2023. Email registrations were sent out for this flight, again on a "first come first serve" basis.

हाल ही में, इज़राइल और हमास के बीच बढ़ते तनाव के कारण उत्पन्न आपातकालीन स्थिति में, भारत सरकार ने 'ऑपरेशन अजय' की शुरुआत की। यह अभियान इज़राइल में फंसे भारतीय नागरिकों को सुरक्षित वापस लाने के लिए शुरू किया गया था।
